Hacé cuatro meses escribé por aquí...

Hoy de repente me he sentado que ver mi blog.... que conmocionado he estado! No he escrito nada por aquí cuatro meses.... ha sido terible...

Por eso, decido a empezar a escribir algo....... y muy pronto voy a tomar el examen de español... Tengo que practicar un poco... No puedo creerme que he aprendido esta idioma un año y medio ya..... pero aún no ha sido muy bien.

Vale, ahora es la estacíon de examen... toda la universidad no se puede encontrar algun asiento vacío. La biblioteca es la más mala. Me siento estresadisímo sentarándome con los estudiantes aquí. Prefiero sentarme en mi habitacíon. Puedo dormir o jugar a los juegos de ordenadores o jugar al squash si me siento hacerlo.

Aparte de esto, me dieron la llave de la habitacíon de musica. Qué suerte tengo! Ya que tengo la llave, casi siempre ir a la habitacíon a tocar el piano.... es un cielo para mí. Haha....

No pienso que poder escibir más... todavia he tenido mucho a aprender... adios!

Surprise, surprise.... all the subjects seem to go opposite to what they were.... A+ for Business Management was absolutely shocking.... never dreamed about it for even one moment.... Organic Chemistry.... er.... I learned my lesson.... I worked my butt off this semester to cover my weakness.... =)..... but my inorganic chemistry suffered a little.....

Overall, I am quite content with how this sem went... =)

I shall dedicate this post to Spanish, considering I have probably screwed up my Spanish 2, and here goes my cGPA..... =( .... So, I shall "try" to write the rest of it in Spanish.... sorry if I make too many mistakes... still taking beginner's class ok....

Ha sigo más que un mes todavia he escrito aquí.... He tenido mucha prisa... con las actividades de la universidad, el estudio y el trabajo... además, no tengo suficiente dinero para los viajes a Corea y Bali... por eso, tengo que trabajar en las vacaciones y sacrifico alguno tiempo con mis amigos... haih...

Pero está bien... no tengo nada examen ahora... ¡Que contento estoy! En NTU toda la gente tiene prisa con sus estudios.... Todos los dias están estudiando... ¿que aburrido, no? Pero a mí me gusta divertirme mientras estudiando.... más o menos porque soy bastante vago... hehe....

He vuelto a Malasia dos dias pasado.... y voy a quedar por sobre dos mañanas ... después tengo que ir a Singapur para mi trabajo.... Dinero, dinero, dienro .... =P ... Pues quienes si tienen tiempo libre, pideme salir de copas o algo.... no me importa... La cosa importante es la reunión...

Ahora estoy aquí en Genting Highland con mi familia... yo sé que va a ser bastante aburrido porque no me gusta el parque tema y no puedo entrar el casino (estoy todavia demasiado joven para lo)... entonces puedo navigar por internet solo.... y por eso tengo tiempo para esto....

La comida local es todavia mejor que las otras.... He comido mucho.... y he engordado mucho..... ¡que bueno! ... haha

Alright.... I have shamed myself enough with mu lousy essay skills.... haha.... but it was fun.... let's see if I can improve after next semester (after Spanish 3....).. and after that I can't go any further in NTU with Spanish.... =( ..... it is a pity since I have come to love this language... I have had such a wonderful time learning it (at least it is better than the time when I learned Chinese... sorry Miss L***** P*** L** and Malay ....lol )

Have been ignoring this blog for too long..... can take some time from my deepavali break to do some updates... can you believe it has been 2 months since my last update???!!! Felt like just updated yesterday.....

As you know, more than half a semester has past.... seriously in a blink of an eye.... in no time all of us will be venturing into the working world... =( .... I would do anything to continue studying and NOT working... somehow studying is so much easier.... (I guess this statement will get me killed by many other students in this world....)

This semester as usual, I am the slackiest (if this word exists) amongst my friends... took 6 modules... lab module has no examination (but trust me, I wished there was one.... somehow reports and assignments are not my forte....). Took an Art module (has Jia Hui gone crazy?) and a Business module.... I gotta salute those who are daring enough to take it.... it is like the toughest subject in the world.... why would someone wanna MAJOR in it in the first place??? Anyway, I used S/U options on them already, meaning that I just have to pass the exam to get the credits and my marks won't affect my cGPA.... what a relief..... So what I am left with this semester is Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Spanish Nivel 2!!!

In terms of study load, I am pretty relaxed... still LOVE español.... I have made up my mind to take all the way to Level 3... and maybe if I have the money and time, I will further it outside NTU (since the maximum they offer is till level 3).... Organic Chemistry turned out to be quite interesting this year.... molecules synthesis... more than ONE correct answer... could let our creativity run wild... haha.... and some of my Summer Research knowledge could be applied here like the cost of chemicals, time of each reaction and how dangerous they are.... I can use all of these to determine which synthetic pathway is better.... =)

I lost the election in Earthlink... in a way it was a blessing in disguise.... I doubt I could manage 2 main committee positions... not to mention I LOVE being in Piano Ensemble.... just to meet up with same passion as I have... (quite many pretty talents this year.....) ... See whether I can get lucky or not... haha....

Something weird happened yesterday.... my ex-girlfriend texted me....

"Stresses, stressed, stressed" ..... That's it.... how cryptic is that???!!!
"???" ..... I replied her.
"Dun mind me.... just stressed out. doing something random".... she replied.
"Wanna talk abt it?"... I sent her.
"Nvm... Ignore me... rest well. Nights."... I got this the text within 5 seconds...
"Ok... nites then." .... the end of texting....

I am terrible at reading girls' minds.... somehow they operate really differently... could someone shed some light on me regarding what she was trying to convey to me???

Anyway..... I recently found another repertoire for myself.... very old song.... from Bach (he was a genius...)... and very famous.... I bet everyone knows this song.... but it will take me years to master it....

Kiasu-ness

After living in Singapore for a year, I have to admit I have officially contracted kiasu-nessitis.... Give you a few examples...

This year the hall allocation was terrible... 17 points aka you need to be involved in main committee plus applying with a Singaporean roommate to 100% confirm getting a room.... wt*!!! So this year everybody is going for higher post... Kiasu me, went and run for 2 main committee posts for 2 clubs. So far I got Piano Ensemble but it is still not good enough to be safe... Kiasu me(again), went and run for main committee of another major club. Now I am starting to have doubts about it because the workload is really hactic. Not to mention I have to prepare powerpoint slides and campaign speech for the ELECTION.... politics... hate it...

Another story: I actually started studying on the FIRST week itself.... =( ... Can't help it, I have Organic Chemistry this semester. Judging on how poorly I did last year, no more fooling around this semester.... one word: KIASU.

Yesterday my roommate and neighbours and I went to Sim Lim Square (whole building also selling electronic stuff). I was actually there just to have a look, but I ended up having an eye on new handphones.... sien.... thank goodness my bank account didn't have enough money, or else I would have swiped my NETS card and I will be in extreme poverty.... What word? 吾钱.... =(

The fact is I am starting to feel the stress already and this is just the beginning of week 3. Next week I have Organic Chemistry first test!!!! This week will all go to Piano Ensemble's audition for new members and its Welcom Tea.... next Monday I have a presentation to do for an elective subject which contributes to 40% of the total marks in exam...... sob..... Not to mention next week is the election for Earthlink (the otehr club I was talking about)... Gee.... university life isn't so relaxing anymore....

A long overdued update....

It has been almost a month since my last post.... I was very busy in the last few weeks.... I finally got hold of the photos from Universal Studio, but I am just too lazy to post it on my blog... I will try to put them up on fb.

So, these are the updates:
1) New semester has STARTED!!! I am officially a year 2 student... no longer a young, vibrant, enthusiastic freshman.... A year in NTU has worn me out... =(.... lol...

2) I am taking Spanish Level 2 after much consideration.... YOG reaffirmed my stand... I just love the idea of being able to speak Spanish ..... ideally can speak FLUENTLY....

3) I got the same job... luckily, this time there is a change in policy. I can work maximum 14 hours per week (4 hours more than last year)... =) ... and guess what.... I maxed out everything.... causing me to have 5 full days in a week..... morning till 7pm....

4) My fear has come back. It is Organic Chemistry II ... First week itself has already thrown me off balance.... I better start revising my first year stuff... Not to mention Inorganic Chemistry... which, according to the seniors, is like HELL.... new, abstract concepts will be introduced. As usual, first week studying it has already taken a toll on me....

5) YOG has ended.... I never regret a single moment for joining it... Made so many new friends from so many different backgrounds.... and made me want to learn Spanish more!!!! And after that French!!!! Y** E**, my unofficial French teacher, I am counting on you... Not to worry, I have 2 new neighbours. One of them is from London, and the other from Sweden. Both of them speak French.... I will try to pick up a bit from them....lol

6) I was very lucky to get a hall as there are about 60% of the Malaysian seniors that I know didn't get one.... Which leads to me running for Main Committee positions in TWO clubs.... kiasu attitude, always want something to fall back on. This is because hall residency is so competitive nowadays I had to spend every second of my free time on clubs and societies....

7) J** M*** is in NTU now!!!! Finally, we got our THIRD person from WMS who, unfortunately, got enrolled into this university.....

8) Summer Research has come to an end as well. I learned so so so much from this experience.... I am so drawn to it that I am actually thinking about giving up Minor in Mathematics to do Summer Research II..... We will see how it goes....

Mi Día Primero de Programa Cultura y Educación

My first day of Culture & Education Programme....

Today I went for my first shift at the Youth Olympic Village.... I took the morning shift, so had to wake up at 7am.... =.="""... damn early .... but who am I to grumble when many other people had to wake up at 5+++am to travel....

The competition won't start until 14th (aka 3 days later).. right now everyone was still suffering from jet lag. The only concern in their minds was still THE COMPETITION.... busy booking training facilities etc.... which left CEP as cold as it could get.... lol... not really... some of the Chef de Mission and Team Officials had shown some interest in it... let's hope it would turn up from here...

Anyway, the atmosphere at the village was awesome. Everywhere you go you see athletes from different countries... Although they are only 14-18 years old, boy you will never believe their age judging from their sizes.... It was a great feast for our eyes: both guys and girls.... The guys are like 7 feet tall, all muscular like crazy... The girls are not as bad.... at least I could find a few (I guess less than 10) who are shorter than me... =( .... hispanic and gorgeous.... Mexicans took the lead so far......er......anyway, 50% of them are minors and you can never tell them apart..... which means..... err... moving on....

Having said that, I didn't know how much of a language barrier I had with foreigners until today... Most people from Latin America DO NOT speak English... but they are very nice people.... apparently many translators (Student volunteers) can speak Spanish.... and I felt very Pai Seh.... never mind, another reason to polish my Spanish....

Usually, all CEP officers are equipped with the fluency in 3 languages (or more)... my third language was totally, utterly redundant.... guess what it is? Yup..... what other than our dearest Bahasa Melayu... the most it could be used on Malaysian representatives (which I didn't get to meet).... well, knowing one more language doesn't kill right?

Generally, I felt very positive from the first day of work. While I felt a little bit (or rather quite a bit) intimidated by their SIZES and the language barrier, the people who came were really polite... I even seized the chance to talk to the Spainish athletes and their Chef de Mission.... unfortunately I couldn't even hold up a 20 seconds conversation before saying "No puedo hablar español muy bien, puedes hablar inglés?"... =(

YOG Opening Ceremony

Just finished watching YOG Opening Ceremony Full Rehearsal. Amazing!!!! Everything from stage setup, fireworks, drama, seating, programmes etc was damn damn damn brilliant.... I would love to show some footage but it is against the law, at least not until the REAL opening ceremony is over... but in case any of you guys are free, try to catch it on TV.... =)

This week is as free as it can ever get.... actually it is getting quite boring... 12 hours of sleep everyday doesn't give me that extra kick anymore.... thank goodness the YOG Committee rewarded us with a VVIP ticket to YOG Opening Ceremony's full dress REHEARSAL.... at least I have ONE thing to look forward ....

Met up with Bernard from NUS yesterday. Went to China Town to eat some Beijing food... same thing happened again, so many queued for that restaurant. We were under the impression that the restaurant was superb but it turned out to be only so-so... This is the typical case in Singapore. As long as you serve DECENT (aka average) food, then you will earn like crazy....

O ya... back to Space Cadet. I was so bored that I spent hours on Space Cadet... and BOOM!

Well, my time in Malaysia has finally come to an end.... 1 whole month of nice food and meeting up with friends were awesome... but somehow I still miss Singapore... guess I am not too homey after all...

Last update was more than a month ago.... wow... longest record.... For what it is worth, I think I have recovered from the break up (Woo-hoo... lol). Now I am as ready as ever .... I hope...

Anyway, last Saturday I went to Singapore Universal Studio (finally...). I shall dedicate an entire post on it when I get the pictures. The entrance free is SGD66 during the weekdays and SGD 72 during the weekends... my cousin got a corporate price of SGD 40+++.... so I was lucky...

PS: I am so jeolous of those people who can play 'Draw My Thing' !!!!!

Unbelievable.... this morning I woke up early (around 8am) and went to download some movies to watch.... Since this is the holiday season, internet speed has improved tremendously.... usually around 180kbps as compared to during semester time, which is around 20-30kbps....

But this morning it was so freaky... my movie is around 1GB and the download bar shot up very quickly... something that usually takes an hour finished within 3 MINUTES!!!!! Omg.... I couldn't believe it myself... I guess no one in my hall wakes up that early to fight for internet connection... I better start downloading other movies while the speed is still good.... who knows, I may even presume to the habit of 早睡早起 just for this...lol

New Roommie....

My luxurious life of one person staying in a double bedroom has come to an end.... it was a great couple of months having the whole room to myself... now I have a new roommate... Se llama Richard Foster. Tiene veintiun años. Lugar de nacimiento es Oxford, England. Estudia Quimica en University of Southampton... Yup. He is in his fourth year now and he is only 21 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Screw Malaysian education system.... that's it, ISA will come and arrest me before I know it...

Lol...... NTU has a good relationship with Southampton.... normally we will have 10+ exchange students, so I wasn't surprised at all he came from there.... And so happen we study the SAME course.... come to think of it, maybe they did it on purpose..... Anyway, he seems like a nice person to share a room with .... Thank G** ...

Well, following my previous post, last Saturday after CEP meeting from 9am to 12pm, we went out for lunch.... at Orchard Road... for Nasi Penyet. Apparently many of my Singaporean friends love it... cuz we had muslim friends, we had to go for halal food.... Personally, I think it wasn't my cup of tea.... quite normal la considering I hate Malay food all along, why would Indonesian food be my favourite out of sudden....

There were 12 of us. But I couldn't get hold of the group shot... =(

Original plan was to go for a badminton game... kononnya in the spirit of YOG.... as a volunteer must support a bit what.... but apparently Singaporeans love sports so much that you have to book 2 weeks beforehand to get a badminton court.... sien... So we went to Marina Square for a game of bowling....

Which I sucked at... I had the lowest score... lol... Malunya....

Then we walked around the mall.... coincidentally it was Singapore Sales !!!!!!!! All of us were going crazy looking at all the discounts...... but we were too broke to buy anything... so lepaked around..... who knows..... we came to this Doraemon Convention.... got colouring competition some more!!! 4-10 years old only.... sien.... So we took some pictures...

The whole idea was to imitate the characters in the background.... I think we didn't do too badly...

As crazy as we were... we got tired. So we stopped by at Starbucks and had some drinks.... Fully charged, we WALKED through Esplanade to the Southern part of Singapore...lol... sounds far but actually was just 10 minutes walk... Singapore is very small.... We passed by the 'Floating Stage' where the Opening Ceremony of YOG will be held...

.... And we passed through this bridge called the 'Double Helix Bridge'.... that's what the locals told me.... They even have ATCG (Correctly and compatibly paired up... geez... no wonder smartness is in the air... ) on the floor along the bridge...

The bridge is supposed to link to the second Integrated Resort... but the construction was still ongoing.... so we took the long way.... we got there eventually....

Next.... of course the CASINO !!!! Ironically, while everything else was still under construction, the casino was wide open for business.... and the business was GOOD....... so many people were there... I wanted so badly to take a look inside, but....

Yeah.... this sucks.... I don't think my look will pass for 18.....They are also underage....

Ya .... pretty much what would happen if we entered.... At night we went to support South Korea in the WorldCup match against Greece at The Penny Black.... it was an English Victorian pub... specially catered for football and rugby fans (I have to avoid using H*******)... with really hot waitresses and no waiters... hmm I wonder why.... I was told that if I went during England VS USA match and supported USA.... ya that will probably be the end of me.... It was a good match though... I cheered until I lost my voice.... but it was awesome.... And then we went home.... FIN

Btw, Happy Halloween, I am part of the "Ghosts" for the coming Freshmen Orientation Camp (FOC)....

Today isthe first time I become an hooligan .... I have no idea how ridiculous we looked, but it was definitely a lot of fun... Congrats to South Korea .... Greece???? You guys played rough and didn't even win ...!!!! In your face .... lol

I am not a huge football fan but being part of the crowd (aka hooligans) is actually kinda fun... Will post some pictures when they are ready...

iPod Touch

Yeap. I have been having this craving for too long... and I can't afford it. So I decided to split it into 2..... iPhone= iPod + Phone.... That's when I started researching on iPod Touch... and it seems that iPod Touch + some ciplak phone is cheaper.

So yesterday night after work, I took a bus to the nearest Apple reseller and bought it. Just a swipe of the card... 10 seconds after and the transaction was completed. Didn't hurt my wallet at all... but wait till the bill comes in the following month... wait a minute... today is June...... crap... I'll have to look at the bill earlier than I thought... haih...

Anyway, I spent the whole night configuring everything..... and I only realized Singapore has this technology called Wireless@SG. Free sign up and then can surf the internet everywhere (except for residential areas and some really hulu places like NTU ... =.=""" ...of course the speed is limited to 512kbps... that's what you get when it is free I guess... anyway, I am very happy with all its functions so far... now trying to get more applications from iTunes...

Yes. The price. I guess it is pretty standard. SGD 327.90 = iPod Touch, silicone casing, small speaker, portabe USB charger, screen protector and one really weird device which I am still trying to figure out...

As much as I hate to admit it, but I am really missing you already.
I never knew how much you meant to me until you are away.
For I have taken you for granted all these years.

My demanding working hours are keeping me away from you.

It has been a month since I last touched you.

It started with a slight interest, and now I find myself inseparable from you.
Now I could spend hours with you without the slightest sense of boredom.
Your voice soothes me when no one else could.
You keep me sane in this geniuses-filled place called NTU.
G** I wished you were here in my room right now.
But that is against the rules of course... (It never hurts to imagine...)
While I tried to get by my days with another substitute,
It is not the same, it will never be the same.
I can't wait till July when I go back to my home.
And just spend my one-month break with you.

Lol... Since when have I been so sentimental? As a matter of fact, most of what I said is true. I have gone on without my piano (when I say piano, I mean a proper one, not keyboards) for about a month already. I tried playing the keyboard in my hall's music room, but tak syok langsung.... touching langsung tak ada... haih.... this happens because my Summer Research working hours clash with Music Room's operating hours. I just wished I could take a day off and spend some quality time with my beloved grand piano but with all this work piling up, I don't think it is even possible.

For what it is worth, I will be back in Malaysia for the whole July. My mentor is going back to France for her daughter's wedding.... she is marrying a Malaysian in France... how ironic and this also shows how kepo I am... go and 'bat' my mentor's family history...lol

I am pleasently surprised by Espanol.... well, I think I got to start thinking the possibility of taking Spanish Level 2 next semester .... anyway, I am very glad with the results this time... =)

My first Mohawk

This is the second time I visited this hairstylist that my friend introduced me to. The first time he convinced me to start styling my hair using wax. Please note that I HATE hair products... somehow my hair will become really dry and clump together but you should have seen how furious he got when he realised I never styled my hair before.... so since then I started on and off... mostly failures... still working on that...

After 2 months, I went to visit him again. I told him the last haircut was too difficult for me. I asked him to change some other hairstyle.... he replied 'okay' and we started our session. He didn't even tell me what he was going to do. What happened next was still quite overwhelming to me. Within 5 minutes, his scissors and hair clippers flew all around my head... at the end of it, he told me 'o ya, this is a mohawk-inspired hairstyle' .......... WT*.... I have seen mohawk and honestly I am not even close to having the courage to carry that style.... then he started styling... the amount of aerosol he used could have made a football-field-sized hole in the ozone... I was literally choking, grasping for air as he went on....

To be fair, this is not a real mohawk... but it is as far as I will go....

So, there you have it. My first "mohawk"...

Yeap. I passed my NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) test! To be fair, the passing rate is 100%. As long as you do the training and register for the test, you'll sure pass.... but I am still very glad. This is the first thing I have got out of Summer Research....

PS: Have a safe trip. Remember the table trick. It can save your life ... =)

Terkena Liquid Nitrogen ... =(

Every morning, one of my duties is to change the liquid nitrogen (we use it to condense evaporated solvent). Since my mentor is away for meeting for the morning, the lab was all to myself ... Muahahaha .... lol .... so I did the usual stuff and when I got to liquid nitrogen part... as I tried to rapidcool the condenser, I was careless enough to let it go in too fast... needless to say, liquid nitorgen spilled out and landed on my hand....

Despite the protection form the gloves, actually I don't think the gloves offerred much insulation, I immediately sufferred a frost bite. There was no one in the lab to help me out. So I had to do according to the safety procedure... I removed my gloves and disposed them quickly, soaked my hands in running water... gosh, at this point the frost bite was overcome by a burning sensation (literally I felt my hands were being burnt)... unfortunately the running water didn't help. My skin that was in contact with that potent liquid began to turn purple... even in the oven (for drying apparatus), the pain didn't stop ....

You know what. I can go on and on about this.... The fact is liquid nitrogen did hit me, but I just shook my hands a few times and it evaporated... as for the cold... it was more like ice water on your hands .... The whole story just now is just to illustrate how dangerous liquid nitrogen is (from what I heard) and how CRAPPY it is... living proof here...lol... in small amount like a spill it is no big deal. Of course don't go and immerse your hands in it!!!!

Moral of the story: Don't believe everything people say about the danger of liquid nitrogen.... and I am really bored (my mentor is still in the meeting), just trying to do something stupid ... =)

40 Hours of lab within 5 days

40 hours in 5 days.

Well... this was the schedule for all Summer Research students. Some even do more than this because their professors are too hardworking. Thankful enough, mine is not. In fact, everyday I go to the lab at about 10am and leave normally at 530pm .... apart from the daily report and assisting my mentor I don't really do anything. It is not like I could contribute any ideas to their projects .... just that what they are doing are really really hardcore chemistry stuff .... with my knowledge .... I don't think I could even whimper in their discussion ...

So, what I learned most over this week is the lab skills. Mostly WASHING ... yes, true enough, in our usual teaching lab (the ones we have for our lesson), we have people to clean things up for us if we didn't do a good job .... In contrast, in research lab, you will get back what you washed. Here comes the problem: I am not a very thorough person. Every time I wash something, I am sure to leave out a spot or two...... My mentor wasn't impressed at all .... She kept bragging about 'You know, in France, our first lesson is always to teach us how to WASH ... bla bla bla ...' ..So, I spent my whole week learning how to wash ... And it came with a price ...

You see, when we wash something, there is this little routine that we have to follow.

1. Identify the type of waste in the apparatus (organic or inorganic or precipitate ...etc)

2. Hence choose a suitable solvent. Methanol for inorganic, soap for organic, brush for precipitate .... bla bla bla ...

3. If still there is stain .... we usually throw it. But when it comes to expensive stuff like NMR tubes, we have to put them in special chemical to immerse them for a few hours ...

4. Drying ....Since the research team I joined works fundamentally on Phosphorus aka organic... it is REALLY IMPORTANT, Yo repito: es muy importante, to ensure the apparatus are absolutely 100% dry. So we have to rinse it with acetone (propanone) first because it vapourises very fast. And since vapourisation is endothermic, it gives you frost bite if it touches your skin (trust me, gloves are useless aginst cold) ... Sorry for the chemistry blabbing ... need some outlet here por favor ... Lastly we dry them in an oven overnight...

5. Inspection. Every morning as I take them out from the oven, my mentor will check and start rejecting half of them .... as mean as it seems, I am aware that even a small mistake like a dirty apparatus could change everything ....

Between getting all the frost bites (including while handling liquid nitrogen) and smelling the most disgusting chemicals, you name it you got it .... I end up losing my appetite every lunch ... maybe I don't cut it as a lab person after all ... we'll see ...

Despite all these, I am still looking forward to next Monday. I think this more or less has to do with my mentor ... Don't get me wrong. She is over 50 and married with kids .... not my type exactly ... I mean she slowly allows me to handle more things as it goes by. She even allowed me to do some small reactions by myself by the end of the week .... =).... sounds like kindergarten kids .... haih ...

Long Gone ...

It has been quite a while since my last entry ... blame the holidays.

Basically, after my final exam (unfortunately it also marked the end of my freshman year .. so fast time flied ... =( ) ... I spent a week or so in Malaysia .... couple of days with my family and the others with friends ... gained back a few pounds .... =) ..

Anyway, everything came to an end last Friday when I returned to Singapore. That night itself we had a long, dreadful 3.5hours meeting for MSA Senior Camp in preparation for the upcoming Freshman Orientation Camp. Needless to say, MSA people in NTU are very semangat and extremely dedicated. Sleep deprivation was part of the routine .... I even put on makeup to act as a ghost to scare people in one of our programmes ...Well, I am not much like them. I took half a day off on Sunday because I was simply too tired ... I just didn't bother anymore and switched off my handphone and SLEPT !!!!!!!!! .... but I am sure it went on well ...

Monday was the start of my Summer Research. It is a Special Semester course that I signed up to gain some experience in the research field and of course to clear some credits along the way ....The Professot I worked with, thank goodness, is a French Professor ... Europeans tend to have a more relaxed schedule and working environment ... I am attached to his research fellow (a French woman) ....

What I do is really simple - help her (my mentor) out with her research. FULL STOP. Fortunately and unfortunately, so happened the stage they are in now is the experiment stage. Meaning that they have done all the background checks and theories, ready to put their ideas to the test. So, the moment I stepped into the office, we would head straight to the lab and stay there. Do, do, do ..... No toilet breaks. They are not sadistic, of course they allow toilet breaks. Just that when a reaction is running (which may last for hours), we can't really go anywhere). Having said that, I learned A LOT !!! Lab techniques that will so help me in my coming semesters .... not to mention my mentor is preparing me for the NMR licence test. YES, in NTU only certified, licenced people can use the NMR machine ....

I have to say I am really grateful and lucky to get this mentor. I am the only first year student(out of 6, the rest are year 3's) and she patiently taught me all the stuff that I usually overlook or too clumsy to be bothered about in lab. She actually put up with all those stupid questions I threw to her. People have been involved in this field for decades, who am I to question what they are doing? .. LOL ... me and my big mouth .... Having said that, they treated everyone equally. One can come and go any time, everything in the lab is personal effort. One person has his or her own project(s), no interference, no strict order to stay in late for work ... you plan when and what you want to do as long as you get the job done .... Come to think of it, I like this kind of working environment ... well, I'll see more as I go on ...

Boy ... seems like I am blogging on all the papers I am taking. Well, just wanna count down my days from total freedom ... Mokshah ... weird ... this word suddenly popped up in my head ... where have I seen it? I am sure it has got to do with freedom ...

Anyway, I had less than 12 hours to prepare for this exam. Thank goodness the style was similar to the past year papers. At least I didn't get a terrible shock from it. What could I say about the test? Normal ... aka got NTU (super smart people) standard but quite similar to the previous years. The only problem was it was very risky. With all the power series and Taylor's series going on. One mistake in between will cost a lot of marks ... well, what is done is done.

Moving on. Last paper tomorrow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Biochemistry II .... Better get started ... =)

Finally ... spanish is over ...

The exam I have been sweating for ... Spanish .... is finally over. How was the paper? Well, it was slightly different than the past year papers. For one, there was actually MULTIPLE CHOICE for our comprehension .... the catch was : more vocabularies we have never met before and those setters were very tricky ... in Spanish, apparently you put many negative words like 'no, nunca, ni etc' and it still means no ... worse part was they used negative adjectives as well ....so convert convert convert .... wasted my time ...

Comprehension wasn't too bad. Questions were okay apart from the tricky ones. Second section: Grammar part was totally based on memory.... tonnes of verb conjugation but I think it wasn't too bad. Last section: essay. This time 2 essays. Each was about 150-200 words. One was to describe my house and the second one is to describe my family. Sounds primary school? IT IS. Easy? NOT AT ALL if you are trying to get all the grammar correct and having so few choices of words doesn't help at all.... I gave it my all.

In less than 12 hours I will have my next paper. Thank goodness it is Calculus ... =)

Overall, the paper was tough (but not as tough as Chemistry). I am quite positive that I will pass this exam. If I did well, there is a slight chance I might consider taking Spanish Level 2 .... =)

I have been "tegur"ed by a few people for putting up the smiley face already .... haih ... what's wrong with this Jia Hui? Sadistic ke? Go and put a smiley face on exam countdown ... One : I love exam because no lesson and the feeling after a paper is over is so AWESOME ... can't wait to burn all the notes !!! Two : There are many things to look forward to after this exam ... =)

This semester is a bit relaxing for me. Took 5 units (as opposed to the normal 6, my darling took 7 !!!!) ... 1 of them is 100% coursework aka no written exam. So, I am left with 4 units. So happen all these exams were arranged a day after the other, making my exam period as short as 6days (2 days being the weekend) ... so thankful mine doesn't drag all the way to the end of the exam season (UNLIKE ENGINEERING ... lol). This gives me an extra week or so to go back to Malaysia, have a bit of fun ... then come back for Summer Research Project (得闲吾事做).

Having said that, today's exam didn't go as well as I thought it would be. The first paper was Modern Chemistry aka Fundamental Chemistry (Inorganic) .... revolves around rates, NMR, equilibria, electrochemistry, nuclear chemistry and MI FAVORITO DEL TODOS - ACID BASE CHEMISTRY (我的死穴). Mostly A-level stuff, and I actually thought it would not be the toughest subject.

To start with, this is the first time this lecturer (a French woman) took charge of this course. She did her postgrad in Bristol. Need I say more about her expectations ... =.= ... Exam format changed .... she loved calculations so much there was not even one question which required explanation.

The WORST part : NMR. At this level, based on the past year papers, we select the compound (out of a few) by looking at the NMR spectrum. This time there was a twist. She gave us a specturm- the real one as produced by the NMR machine and asked us to guess what compound it is with as little information as the molecular formula. 13 marks .......... =.= .......... the compound was an 11C compound with a degree of unsaturation of 6 !!!!! Omg .... imagine the possibilities that can make up this number ... well, in short, I screwed this part up really bad .... T_T

Come to think about it, I shouldn't be suprise. After all, this is NTU ... no matter how tough the paper is, there will still be some freaking geniuses who will score 100. Let's hope this time fewer get that ... or else my cGPA will drop drastically ... Moving on, examen espanol is next in line ... start memorising ..... =(

Anyway, life is pretty boring right now. Exam season is hitting NTU in less than 20 days. And yet I am still as slack as usual .... 吾知死字点样写 ...

Thank goodness I only have 4 papers this semester. Very little memory required .... All the assignments are done, including my lab work ... phewwwwwww .... the only thing left is Spanish Oral and Listening tests...

Can't wait for the exam to come ( more accurately get it over with ) ... Good thing is they are so close together. In less than a week's time I'll finish all my papers ... =)

Well, this is what I have been doing for the past 5 days. What is CEP? Unlike the ordinary Olympic Games whereby athletes come, compete and leave, the first Youth Olympic Games has a unique feature : All the athletes are going to stay throughout the competition regardless of the status of their events. Therefore giving them time to experience the culture in Singapore. Culture and Education Programme (CEP) will organise activities to allow the young athletes to learn about culture and other aspects of their careers. There are currently more than 50 activities planned out, and more to go. These include Networking workshop, Career workshop, Chat with Olympians, Island Adventure, Community Projects etc.

Sounds monotonic?

Ya. The organising committee fed us with this information throughout the whole 5 days ....

Anyway, for your information, I volunteered as a CEP programmer. CEP training camp which I attended comprised of 60 local programmers and 30 Young Ambassadors from all around the world. But the training camp was amazing. It was totally a different level of fun. We got to meet so many 'Big Shots' so to speak.

The part where I like the most is the 'Chef de Mission Dinner' (French) = Chief of Mission Dinner. Everyone dressed up formally (more formal than prom I think). Each of us is allocated to one table seated with 9 other Chef de Mission from other countries. This gave us a first-hand experience in networking with people of different cultural backgrounds while trying to promote CEP. This was the first time I had a French full 6-course meal (as opposed to the 9-dishes Chinese style meal). Half of them tasted weird .... like they used herbs from another planet but the rest was awesome ! The dish I love most was the raw lobster (with some weird sauce) .... and the Lemongrass Ice Cream !!!! Omg .... I wished I could taste that again. As much as I want to blab about what we did everyday, I couldn't as it would take forever to out them in words. Fortunately, we have a video recording :

Working on NTU Open House 2010

Last Saturday was NTU Open House. In obligation to IPhone, I worked throughout the day for a couple of extra bucks. Turns out that there was so much fun I didn't want it to end. Just talking to the lecturers (as their colleagues as opposed to students) is a totally different experience. Not to mention chatting with my current/future Teaching Assistant (who have control over the fate of my experiments) ... And I met another Malaysian TA who was also working with me ....

Well, I was in charge of the 'Slime" booth. 10 hours of experiment was so tiring. On the bright side, seeing people get stunned by what we did was awesome. The experiment was a demonstration of a special kind of fluid which defies common Fluid Law, it is known as Non Newtonian fluid... I reacted the same way (if not more) when I first did the experiment. Best thing is, now that I had the recipe, I could actually do it at home .... can cheat small kids ...lol

Can you believe it? Today is our second month anniversary. Need I say more?

Anyway, today I have finally finished my mid-term exam..... wait ... not yet. Still have Spanish, but I have 2 weeks time to prepare for it. Shouldn't be a big problem. I am also watching 'Yo Soy Betty la fea' ( I am Betty the ugly ) online, hopefully can get used to Spanish spoken daily before my Listening Test comes ( which is in a month !!! )

CONGRATULATIONS to me !!! LOL ... perasannya ... I just found out I was shortlisted for CEP (Culture & Education Programme) 2010. Haven't heard of it? So was I. In short, it is a programme that will 'supposedly' inculcate some values ... bla bla bla ... AMONGST THE YOUNG ATHELETES IN YOUTH OLYMPIC 2010 !!!!

Well, of course it comes with a price. I had to participate in their training programme from 20th to 25th March (6 consecutive days) and devote my August to the programme. While doing so, I am going to :

1. miss 4 days of class.... can't even imagine what that will do to me. I also found out I have Spanish mid term during the camp.

2. miss Wei Han's guitar performance .... haih ... I hope I have time to tell him later. Not good finding it out through my blog. Anyway, my girlfriend and Guat Sim will go and support him....

3. miss my FIRST 20+ birthday .... T_T .... officially old now.

Haih. It is a really great exposure. Not to mention it will light up my resume... ( Yer... talking like job-hunting adults ... CONFIRMED OLD ... ). I guess I can only do this in Year 1....

Haih ... I've been having this craving since last year .... I want an IPod, a camera, a better handphone, a mobile internet ........ and now I can have all of them in ONE ...

Current price in Singapore (without a plan) is about SGD1000 !!!!!!! omg ... almost same in Malaysia ... Actually, I was quite determined to buy it after Chinese New Year. But I heard news that this model will have a drastic fall in price by the end of the year as another new model is coming out.... the wait is killing me ....

So many people are using it. On the street, on billboards, in the MRT even in class I'll see people sliding the screen around ...... ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH ..... It is a miracle I have survived 2 weeks since the WITHDRAWAL symptoms start ...lol

As much as I would like to follow my heart, I have also heard how fragile it can be. And the maintenance won't be cheap. Not to mention I basically work my butt off this semester for nothing. Everything will go into this phone. Haih ... so many things are holding me back ....

Let's hope my withdrawal will subside soon. Or else.... a 15 minutes bus and one swipe of NETS card (something like a debit card in Singapore) I'll end up with an IPhone. Isn't it just freaky how easy shopping can be nowadays?

Lol ... it is a direct translation of 'From Paris With Love' ... My girlfriend and I went to Jurong Point (A nearby shopping mall) to have dinner and catch up this movie. Love the action. Not extremely excited with the storyline. Love the casts (John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers) ... she is in love with Meyers ... now I know her taste in men ... lol

This week is recess week. Wei Han flew all the way back to you-know-who last Saturday already. Left me behind. Alone. Well, maybe not alone ....lol. Anyway, I couldn't go back to Malaysia because I have work and a lot of mid term studying to do. I also make a date with my dearest grand piano for 10 HOURS !!!! ( 2 hours per day for all the weekdays ... : ) ... almost everyone is back home, so I can have it to myself .... )

Today is March already. End of next month then my first year in NTU is done. Haih ... I could still remember so clearly how E*** S***, E***** G**, A** J**** and maybe M*** J*** S****** (I'm not too sure about the last one ... pardeno ...) sent me off at KL Sentral ... now most of my A level friends have gotten into universities ... but they could still meet up quite often ... 羡慕死人 ... no worries ... July will come soon ...

My mom's birthday is coming soon. She is quite particular about everyone being there on her birthday. So far no one dared to miss it. Except for me. First time was NS. Couldn't do anything about it. And now ..... well ... lazy ad broke ...lol

LOL ... that means '21 hours in Spanish class' ... ( not sure about the grammar though ... ). Finally, after 21 hours of clueless lessons, today my tutor taught us about verb conjugation (which is one of the most important components of Spanish grammar), everything starts to make sense now ... I have to say, coping with new sets of rules are quite difficult, but I LOVE Spanish so much I think I am going to keep going.
' ¡Quiero el lengua Espanol! ' ( I love the Spanish language! )

Besides, there are other benefits learning Spanish, the best is this :

This only means one thing. I finished watching Britain Next Top Model ( all FIVE cycles !!!) ... now I have to resort to Mexico's Next Top Model ... while waiting for next ANTM in March. Unfortunately, I could only find ONE video with English subtitles .... and I can only pick up a few words here and there ... so basically I have no idea what is going on without the subtitles ... haih ... As you can see, Mexican girls are really HOT ... look at the semi-finalists I can see so many good looking ones ...

I have to say, I like this thriller a lot ... especially how the killer tortured the victims ... ( Don't worry, 我吾读书读到烧坏脑... still quite sober ... )

I saw something more interesting. Madeline Zima. She was the one the main characters in The Nanny (which I doubt many people know about) .... Weirder still .... there was a 'hot' scene in the movie and it felt kind of wrong watching it ....lol ... considering the last time I saw her she was 9.... Anyway, here are some pictures of her ...

Last Sunday, I followed MSA ( like a Malaysian society ) NTU to Sentosa for our Freshmen Orientation Camp ( FOC ) outing ... with the purpose of bonding the committee members for our upcoming FOC for this year's freshmen.... As usual, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves ...lol

Morning gathering at Old Canteen A. Said 730am, we ended up taking the bus at 830am .... Worse, it was expected. That's why they put it earlier .... ==''' .... Typical Malaysian mentality ...lol

In the bus, the Senior Attached Group Leader (SAGL) ... for some reason NTU loves to use acronyms for everything ..lol ... They were very dedicated bunch to me, always hyper ... bus ride wasn't our rest time.... we sang and joked around ... half an hour went past before we knew it ...

Ice breaking session. I personally think this was very creative ... Firstly, they let us pass around a roll of toilet tissue and we were given the liberty to take as many as we want ... Of course, kiasu mentality set in.. Some took like half a row...lol ... but there was a catch : For every piece of tissue we take, we had to tell the group a truth that the rest of the team didn't know ...I only had 2 pieces ... lol ... :P

Food Clamping. We had to pass around 4 different types of food ( 甜酸苦辣) WITH OUR FEET !!! Some food dropped out during the process... but we had to eat it as well ( with beach sand flavouring of course .. ). After everyone had the chance to add some scent from his/her feet into our food .........

We had to eat it. And THIS PERSON IS NOT ME !!! Even though I mistakenlty thought I ate a piece of raw ginger that day ....
甜 : Sweet cookies
酸 : Fresh raw lemon ( half of the fruit we had to eat.. )
苦 : Kopi sweets ( Not bad ... )
辣 : RAW GINGER !!!! ( I didn't touch those at all .. )

Next game: Tiger, Policeman & Sniper.
Whole group had to decide on one of the characters and do the action together. This was the 'tiger'.........

And the losers had to run for their lives before they get caught by the winners .... LOL ... I bet we all played this when we were much younger ... it was nice to relive some youth ...( I'm still under 20 k ... must savour every moment before I get old .. )

Next up : Human Fussball.

I think everyone knows what fussball is. Same rules. I think we can play this game if we had enough people in our outing ...

War Cry !!! Was what we did every time before a game began. It really brought up our spirit .... especially everyone was practically forcing their throats out of their mouths ...

Seguinte ( 'The following' in Spanish... must apply a bit ..lol ) : Charade with lots of water spilting ...no one will look good doing it ...lol

We had lunch. Somehow MSA people loved to take weird pictures. I like this ... got some aesthetic values ....lol

Wet games: There were quite a few of them but I only managed to get some pictures on them. In this game, we had to transfer sea water using any part of our body apart from our arms.

Chill people .... this wasn't a fight .... it was another war cry ...lol

Losers had to do penalties. Very creative penalties though...

This is called Tsunami. The loser team formed a circle in the middle of the sea and the winner team splashed water at them .... somehow the loser team always got back to the other team...lol

If I am not mistaken, this is called 'Omochi' ... the losing members are the 'content' of omochi and were buried with sand ...

Sand Facial. And people are actually paying for them in spas ...

Do I need to elaborate on this? Pretty obvious right ?

Glycolysis

Sad ... Today is a Saturday and I am sitting in my desk trying to stuff this 10-steps glycolysis into this little brain of mine .... Enzymes, regulations, physiological changes ...... I almost can't take it ... this made sense considering I was gaming while studying ....lol

Tomorrow is Sentosa trip with my fellow MSA club members ( which Wei Han didn't join ... ). No time for tutorial ...so have to finish it by today ... T_T ...

PS : I just finished memorising 1-100 in Spanish ...lol ... next week got spelling ....

Yup. I conducted the experiment myself, and it worked. Just go to the nearest hospital, grab your IC and register.

FOR A BLOOD DONATION !!!!

Yup. That's right. And people thought losing weight was difficult ... lol ... best thing of all ... I actually managed to gain enough weight in Singapore to donate 1 pine ( 450cc ) of blood ....... Last time ( in mckl ) I could only do 300cc ..... Only good thing about gaining weight ....

It was actually quite fun .... After I donated my blood, they provided us with very good meal ( eg Milo, apple juice, waffle biscuits which were amazing etc ... ) ... I ate so much as if they were my reward for donating my blood ... I even saw some donors 'da pao' the milo .. =_= ..... Shame on them .... ( PS : I wasn't one of them ok ... )

The nurses here are really really awesome. Not only physically ....lol .... but their politeness was commendable .... I perhaps may have a slight chance of reconsidering donating blood during the next blood drive .....

The aftermath was terrible though. Right after this, I went for dinner with few of my friends. I ate so much ( I even took half of my girlfriend's rice ... no wonder she is getting thinner .... ) that I bet all the weight loss probably didn't count at all ...

LOL ... but it felt great. A small wound on my hand could possibly save 3 lives .... think about that ... it is worth it .... : )

THIS IS NOT THE LOTTERY NUMBER OR WHATSOEVER .....

It is our hall volleyball team's score against another hall's team. Well, as you can see, we LOST .... but our opponent was last year's runner up... so it was sort of expected ... but didn't know why suddenly our team became very geng .... managed to put up a reasonable fight .... well ... I won't be touching volleyball until next semester ..... no more exhausted days, twisted wrist etc ....

PS : What I did was only sitting on the bench and cheering ... :( ...

PPS : Today I saw a weighing machine at SRC ( Sports & Recreational Centre .. in NTU ) ... I couldn't resist it. And when I stepped on it ..... "OMG !!!!!!!!" ..... I gained like * kgs ( notice it is plural )... almost a miracle .... my first weight gain in Singapore .... I think I have been fed too well lately ..lol

PPPS : I now have 9 pots of plants in my room ( souvenirs from my project ) ... my roommate hasn't asked anything ... probably thinking they were my science project of something ....

3rd week anniversary

Today I am really really relieved and having a great day .... Not only have my committee completed our project ( the one which I am counting on to allow me to stay in my hall for the next semester ... ), I think it went so well we got sponsorsing agents coming down to NTU to offer their sponsorship for our next year's event .... I can still remember couple of weeks ago I was disappointed with our committee for taking things too easily ... but things just started to come together lately .... Couldn't have wished for more .... plus I adopted a few pots of plants .... 3 mothers and 1 daughter ...

3rd week already we have been together ... i just read her blog and noticed that she is not coping too well .... worse of all, I didn't know it from her mouth ... guess I was too busy with this project for the past few weeks .... I'll try to spend more time with her ....lol

Another week then we'll have ONE month anniversary .... wa .... like some sort of great achievement like that ... lol ... hope we get there ...

I was so satisfied yesterday ... like all my unfulfilled desires were thrown to me all at once ... Please don't get the wrong idea here ok ?Yesterday I had a very very nice Japanese buffet in SINGAPORE !!! Talking about saving huh ... I think it was quite reasonable , even when I have converted to Ringgit the price is almost like Tenji's price .... not to mention the restaurant is in SINGAPORE !!! I had my first taste of durian in like 6 months ... even though it was just Durian paste dessert and Durian ice-cream, I was over pampered by indulgence .... come to think of it ... Malaysian durian still nicer....

I always had this craving for Japanese buffet .... every now and then. I think right now my girlfriend and Wei Han probably can't put up with my obsession any longer ....

I haven't had such full meal in like forever .. probably gained a few pounds as I speak ... Only 1 complaint, the salmon wasn't really fresh .... so was the oyster ... The few of of us just sat there and ate and talked until the restaurant closed ..... so worth it .... we practically developed a second stomach just to accommodate the extra food we took in.... typically Malaysian mentality ... " Malaysia Boleh ! " ..lol

Come to think about it, tomorrow is our 3rd week anniversary already ... and look who's counting ( HINT HINT L** S** Z**** ... ) ...We are still surviving .....

2 weeks Anniversary

In a blink of an eye ( 瞻下眼) it has already been 2 weeks .... I have to say our relationship is developing quite slowly .... maybe a little too slowly ....lol .... guess we were so busy with other activities after all .... but we already saw this coming before we started this semester .... One thing I have to say is that she really made an effort to spend time with me .... I am NOT BLIND ... some of the things you did I can see .... just keeping my gratitude to myself ...

I think I brought a joke little bit too far today .... I think she is giving me silent treatment ... the most 绝 punishment ... haih .... Blame the mouth la .... hope she forgives me soon ...lol

Enough about her, my event is going to be held next MONDAY and TUESDAY !!! Lately everyone seemed really on fire ... yesterday we stayed up to 1am for our event and I didn't know how on Earth we can all get things done within such short amount of time .... and our Chairperson 好识做人 ... belanja us McDonald's after our meeting ....

Working has never been better. My 'kepo' personality definitely made it a good place to work ... I eavesdropped on the professors' personal kepo stuff .... no stress at all .... plus I got to use some of the time for revision .... never found a better job than this .

Espanol is getting more interesting .... starting to learn how to read out loud Spanish words .. every time I say 'ge- or gi-' my phlegm always feels like coming out of my throat .... 'rrrrrrrrrr' was the best ... my tongue can literally flutter faster than a snake ........can't wait to get better at this and start speaking to people in Espanol .

Study wise, since I went easy on my Academic Units this semester ( thanks to exemption ), I prety much coping with it well despite all the things that are going on simultaneously.

Got a new room mate. A temporary one of course, may be here for almost a month. But I realise a big packet of cigarettes on his table. and it has been torn open .... Doesn't sound good huh ? ... Good thing is ... he doesn't smell after-smoke so far .. but I am yet to gather my guts to confront him ... Hoping for a NORMAL room mate kononnya ...

Volleyball was okay. My team members ( all Singaporeans ) are being very supportive towards everyone, even though it is giving me muscle ache for at least 3 days every week. The endorphin boost was worth it.

I am still keeping my 1 week 2 hours grand piano session so far. Simply because I need it. Working on Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata First and Second Movement ... I can actually hear Celeste saying " What la ?! These 2 movements Grade 6 standard only ... sight read also can ...." . while I am typing this ... Well , I am still struggling to memorise the first movement. Chords are too similar and the progressions are quite confusing ... Hopefully with my short term memory loss I can get it done by July 2010 ....

ANTM cycle 14 is taking too long ... I loved last season Nicole but now I am bored to death already ... Lately everything just doesn't seem to go well ... sad ...

1. Yesterday's volleyball practice was a mess. I lost control over the ball ... I think our coach's throat almost fell out of his mouth .... When we split into small groups and played against each other , again I caused my team to lose .... we ended up doing 50 push ups as punishment .... yesterday I was drained off every bit of energy left in me ... today was worse ... my arms and thighs were giving me a tough time ... I won't count on tomorrow getting any better anyway ...

2. My club event will start in 2 weeks time. So much to be done. Some of the committee members aren't as committed as I hoped .... ( maybe I am comparing with Leo Camp ... ) .... I was at the edge of giving up but thanks to my girlfriend I think I am going to start picking up the slack ...lol ... still got hope I think .... But there is a price, Zhi Mei and Suet Yee are coming to Singapore this weekend and I don't think I can spend much time with them ... So pai seh .... Never mind , I send Wei Han as my replacement ...lol

3. Studies wise wasn't so bad .... still can catch up so far BUT my laziness is coming back to haunt me .... everyday computer games or Britain Next Top Model only ( still waiting for ANTM ... ) .... sad ...

4. She asked me a question today and I think I answered very poorly .... I give myself a C .... maybe a C+ la ....there is so much I need to learn about girls ...... sad ..... :(

Surprisingly , I kind of like my job .... it is as a receptionist of course ... 50% of the time I will just sit at the counter studying ..... at least I couldn't go MSN or anything so absolutely 100% attention ...Lecturers pass by all the time . I usually just catch them and settle my doubts there ... pretty convenient huh ? I guess this job benefits me more than I thought .... Plus since most of my colleagues including the permanent staffs there are female , they are so 'kepo' ... joking around all the time ... totally not what I expected in an office ... at least the office is now a better place to work ...

Thank goodness I had more free time today. 2 hours with the grand piano worked like a miracle ....I am finally using piano for good ...lol ...

Tomorrow is going to be a long day ... 6.5 hours of class with a handicapped body ....

Yer ... sounds so dull .......

Anyway , believe it or not . We have survived a week ... minor arguements here and there but mostly it was wonderful ...hopefully there will be more weeks to come ... maybe months ..... years ?????? ....... hmm .... we'll see ......

I had my first Spanish class today ... my lecturer is from Spain ..... Spanish women will never let anyone down ...... even in her forties , she still looked amazing ...... HOT !!! ( hopefully this message doesn't go to the unintended ones .... lol ) ....... It was a basic introduction .... Basic words .... The first sentence we learn was 'te quiero' ...... will come in handy though ....

Love the class ...... freaking out abot the exam ... it will affect my overall grades ...... I don't do things I am not confident in usually ..... and this is a BIG step ........

Today's class sort of made me want to go Spanish-speaking countries ... preferrably less developed countries .... Mexico , Peru or even Argentina .....so ....... start SAVING !!!!

Today I was scheduled to work 2.5hours ... and best of all ... no lesson for me today .... I failed to get music after all .. it's full ady ...that gives me more time for others la .... trying to be optimistic here ....

Work was terrible. Remember yesterday I overheard my superior talking about the mouldy filling room ... and they were trying to get someone to clean the fungus ... well , lucky me ... they called me to do it .... 2 hours with nothing but spores , hyphae , propagulus , conidia .... the skin on my palm is still peeling off now .... haih ...

Good news is .... the dateline has reached. And it's a yes .... happy me ....ok , probably should stop here ...

First day at work

Today my work officially started ... and this job is actually what I have been dreaming to become all along ... an OFFICE BOY !!!!

I was given a 3-hours slot today ..... 3 x 7 = 21 .... means can eat 4 McD meals ady ... wa ... but must keep reminding myself the money cant spent ... need to go for exchange programme ... we'll see how far can I hold myself together before I spend the money ... lol

Basically my job is at the receptionist desk. Pick up the phoce ... get the mails .. help my superiors to post their mails ... do photostating ... filling .... yawn ... boring ... filling alone took me 2.5 hours today .... guess what ? I overheard they are gonna do a filling maintenance soon .. means MORE WORK !!! ... hopefully it kena other people's time slot ... lol

One good thing is when there is nothing to do, I can check emails and even study .... hopefully my performance is good enough to keep this job till year 4 ...

Interesting day ...

I have decided to go public after all .... for those who know ,you don't have to hide anymore ... for those who don't ... this is something extra going on in my life ....

Few weeks ago , I asked this gal in my class out .... like a date la ... and she RELUCTANTLY ( as I sense ... ) agreed ... well ... today is the big day ....

Thanks to her emergency meeting , we had to cut it short ... just enough time for us to have lunch and talked .... talked as in few hours talk ... thank goodness the drink was bottomless ... or else drinks itself would have cost me a fortune ....

This date wasn't in vain , I knew so much more about her than before ... I think I am finally starting to have a grasp about her ... The most unbelievable thing was I paid for the meal ( even though she tried to do dutch ... ) ...that's how special she is ... but this only happens on the FIRSTs.... I specified .. or else I can quit uni and start working to pay my debts off ....

But somehow we came to a conclusion to wait .................

yup .... wait ................ she needed more time to think .........

................. LONGER PAUSE ...................

Good thing is she gave me a date in which she will give me an answer .... hmm .... at least I have some comfort knowing that how long exactly I needed to wait ....

5 weeks of semester break is coming to an end soon .... This truly marks the end of the first semester .... Everything happened so quickly .... from taking A level results to being rushed to NTU and then exam .... results .... and now starting another semester .... Out of all this chaos , I actually managed to enjoy myself a bit ( thanks to those who visited Singapore and the friends I met in Singapore ... ).

Much is ahead of me next semester . Not only am I attempting more Academic Units this semester , I am planning to work and while trying to cope with all these I need to find time for the special ones .... sounds demanding yet it might turn out to be very interesting ... I bet this semester is going to be over more quickly ....

Overall CGPA : 4.65

I was quite surprised with the results , especially calculus considering I suck at it. On the downside , what kind of Chemistry student can't do Organic Chemistry .... seems like I need to be nerdier next semester ....

Dead Blog Alert

It's about time for me to issue myself the ultimate ' Dead Blog Alert ' .... Sorry , was out for too long ....

Just an update of what had happened after the Organic Chemistry exam , I managed to survive all the exams and also the whole Semester 1 ( hopefully I don't have to retake any of them in future ... )

After the exam , a few of my NTU friends and I went shopping at IMM mall .... I think I was possessed or something ... I have never spent so much on shopping ... guess I have been hanging out with girls too often already .... anyway , I am so going to pay the price .... wanna bet how much weight I am gonna lose from starving myself ??? Lol ... just kidding , I can't go any further on starvation without being called anaeroxic ....

Then I came back to Malaysia for almost a week ( for FOOD of course !! ) .... During that period , I met up with FXC in Gardens and no one else after that ... apparently most of the people are busy with studies or/and work .... makes me feel so guilty for being so lazy....

Went back to Singapore again .... for club meeting and volleyball ...... meeting went well and ended on the expected date .... volleyball was dreadful .... I have not been exercising ever since exam season ..... and the coach was extra harsh on the team .... so I had muscle pain for 4 DAYS !!! Couldn't walk down the staircase for the first 3 days .... so sad .... I stayed around a little longer for course registration and came back to Malaysia yesterday ...

As soon as I came back , I rushed into a quick nap before going for my primary school gathering ... It was not bad at all considering 20 people showed up ... we had such a blast recalling all the silly things we did in the past and doing lots of catching up ..... Thanks again to the organisers ....

Hmm .... I guess that's all for now ....

Organic Chemistry Test ....

I just had my Organic Chemistry test ( which is to me the toughest paper ever ) .... I have even broken my own record ... I was still studying this yesterday morning ( which totally went against my principles of not studying a few days before exam ... ) ... but this is just too much for me .... it was 10^n times , n>100000000000 tougher than what I experienced in A levels ... omg ... what kind of language am I speaking now ....

Just to give an idea how the test structure in NTU is like ....

First question was about stereochemistry .... quite similar to A levels optical isomer and stuff .... but I spent too much time on this section ... I am blind when it comes to 3D structure .... and a little of Sn2 reactions were involved ... generally still manageable ....

Second question was all about reaction mechanisms .... this one to be honest is the most redundant part to me in chemistry .... just swallow and vomit .... this part I messed up a bit ... but still okay ...

Third question was about cyclic organic compounds where the conformational structure of a molecule suddenly became damn important .... I totally screwed this part up .... well , I guess this question was supposed to separate really smart people from normal students like me ... haih ...

Fourth question was about benzene chemistry ... it was okay ... just need to talk bad about Friedal-Craft and why it not a good method after all ....

Overall , this exam was very tough to me. The worse part is , right after the exam paper was collected , the first thing I heard was ' this paper is much easier than I expected' ....... OMG .... I was so close to walk over him and strangled his life out of him ..... NTU geniuses memang cannot underestimate .... now I know where I stand .... lol ... next semester I got to work harder already .... as for now ... I need a serious nap ......

Today I had my last forensic lesson. We had a crime scene officer as our guest lecturer. Wa ... it was damn interesting ... lots of REAL crime scene footage ... some really gruesome ....

I think I learn most today in term of application of the previous knowledge .... We even learned how to interview people .... there are skills to make people talk even with the presence of lawyer and without violence ....

Well ... as much fun as I had today , need to study ...

Last Sunday Hann Jiunn came to Singapore for his vacation .... He is our FIRST guest in Singapore ( considering Wei Han and I are gonna stay here for at least 7 years ... so treat ourselves as local already ... perasan a bit la ... ) ... Anyway , I'll like to briefly talk about what we did in these few days ...

DAY 1 ( SUNDAY )

Hann Jiunn arrived at Changi airport . He had to take the MRT to Jurong and Wei Han picked him up from there . Changi was too far from NTU so we couldn't go all the way there .... ( even though SOMEONE is dying to go there and have a look ... )

That night we had dinner together at Canteen 2 ( supposedly the best canteen in NTU ... ) . All of us had chicken rice and ICE-CREAM WAFFLE !!! My favourite dessert in NTU ...

Then we went back to Wei Han's room. Since my roommate has quite a different lifestyle, I asked Hann Jiunn to stay over at Wei Han's place. We caught up and talked a lot until I forgot about the time. I ended up staying over at Wei Han's place as well .... thanks for the singlet and the blanket ....lol .

DAY 2 ( MONDAY )

It was more of a studying day for Hann Jiunn. I brought him to my Organic Chemistry tutorial which has the prettiest tutor. Wei Han brought him to Physics and Material Science lectures .... can experience university life a bit ... lol .

At night Sin Yee came to NTU ( her first visit ) .... so we had our dinner at Sakae Sushi in NTU ....

DAY 3 ( TUESDAY )

In the morning Sin Yee and Hann Jiunn went out to NUS to have a look .. while Wei Han and I were having class ...

At night , we went out to Bugis to shop and have a look ....

We had Malaysian food ( so ironic .... Malaysians came to Singapore to eat Malaysia food ) , yet the taste was out ..... insulting Malaysia I tell you ....

Our dinner .... MALAYSIAN wantan noodle and 奶茶 ...

Malaysian Mi Goreng .... got tomato sauce inside ... like fake Prada ...

Then we walked around the streets , looking around .... and found lots of SEX SHOP .... but must be above the age of 23 only can enter .... haih .... had to turn away and go .... lol. We ended up in a new shopping mall in Bugis ... I forgot its name already ...

DAY 4 ( WEDNESDAY )

Morning Wei Han skipped his class and went to lepak around Singapore with Hann Jiunn while Sin Yee and I were stuck in our classes .....

At night we went to the most famous street .... GEYLANG STREET !!!

Then we had dinner .... Claypot Rice at Geylang street ....

Then we hang around Geylang street, observing the people and the things they do here .... looking for what this street is famous for in the first place .... LOL .... THE FOOD of course !!!

Ironically, we found a few temples and mosques here ... I wonder what kind of message they are trying to convey ....

DAY5 ( THURSDAY )

Last day here for Hann Jiunn. He went to shopping at Jurong Point in the morning. Then we had our last lunch together at Hall 9 ( supposedly having the best Western food in NTU ... ) .... Hann Jiunn's treat again ...

We went back to Wei Han's room. He bought each of us a whole big can of biscuits ... exactly what I needed .... Thank you .... Hann Jiunn packed his stuff and went off to Changi .... while both of us ...... came back to reality ..... for me is Bread days again .... lol

We all had a lot of fun with Hann Jiunn ... we wouldn't have gone out so frequently if there was no such excuse .... so anyone who is free ( especially those in Australia who are going to have their semester break soon ) .... feel free to come to Singapore .... accommodation is taken care of ( for guys only .... ) ....

I feel like the Ministry of Tourism owes me now ....

First Taste of Getting Drunk ...

Don't be misled by the title . I wasn't drunk , but this is and will be the closest I will ever get to that .... The suffering was too much ...

Yesterday night was a Friday night . I just finished my volleyball practice which by the way was our first friendly match against Hall 5 in an indoor volleyball court .... it was a lot of fun ... Anyway , what happens usually on Fridays is that I'll be hanging out with my laptop ( no $$$ ... where got outings ?? ) while Joonas will go out ( G** knows where he goes ) until very late at night ...

So I slept at about 2am ( which was pretty early for friday nights ... usually 4am .... because I was so tired from the training ... ) . Just when I was nicely asleep , Joonas came back ....

Although it was quite dark , I could still him walking funny .... he slammed the door so hard I was instantly wide awake .... He stumbled here and there until he got a hang of himself against his chair .... Ironically still had the time to undress before he went to bed ... The whole thing was quite scary as he couldn't even walk straight to his bed ... I was so scared he was going to fall or something .... with his weight I guess I would have a one or two broken ribs easily ...

So he lied on his bed ... safe and sound ... I was thinking ' Thank GOODNESS .... ' ... then I went back to sleep .... and was awake again when he threw up .... It was so horrifying ..... I didn't dare to turn my head over to him ... the sound of vomit dropping onto the floor and his throat choking again and again .... soon enough the smell of alcohol came out , fuming the room with vodka ....

I couldn't sleep at all . I tried my best to but it didn't work . I ended up waking at 7am and go online .... until I was really really tired only I went back to sleep ....

Although this experience is quite overwhelming to me , there were some points I just didn't get it . For one I didn't see his friends helping him up to the THIRD floor .... and how could he fit the key in correctly into the lock when he was so drunk ??? And to undress before bed ??? I guess I'll never know because I kind of make it a point not to get drunk at all !!!! So to those who have tried in the past ( you know who you are ... lol ... ) I'll be more careful next time .... Getting drunk is so not worth it ...

All these years people generally feel very positive about my academic results , I myself am satisfied with it of course .... but here at NTU things have changed ....

Let's take an example . The recent Biochemistry mid-term exam was so so so tough .... really squeezed every single drop of brain matter out of my head and I felt good with the paper because I managed to finish all the questions ( tembak here and there of course ) .... my results are ok ... but wait until you heat this :

" 3 students scored 100% and about 40 scored over 90% "

I was like so stunned when I heard that .... What ???!!! 100% ???!!! 3 PEOPLE SOMEMORE !!! The total number of students in the class is only 200+ ..... there are about 25% of freaking smart geniuses all around the lecture theatre .... And I thought I was good at Biochemistry ...

It feels terrible .... do any of you actually felt this way before ??? This is my first time and I am trying to cope with it .

Well .... don't worry , I won't do anything stupid ... I realized to compete with these geniuses are really useless .... I decided to just try my best ( at least must try to maintain the scholarship ... ) and try to hang out with the more " ordinary " people ....

Well , what am I doing ??? Study study study .... haha ...

I had the most embarrassing experience today ...

After my volleyball training at about 10pm , I headed back to my room and found out I forgot to bring the key and Joonas was apparently out ....of all the times I actually remember to bring the key , it has to be today whereby I forget and he 'gam ngam' went out ....I was sweaty , smelly , tired ... anything you can call after 3 hours of practice ...

Since I wasn't very close to my neighbours , I went downstairs to ask my friend ( who lives right a floor below me ) for help . She was kind enough to invite me in but judging from the pungent smell from my body , I would rather wait outside her room ....

I went to the security guard and he said I have to get the key from the security office ... which was located miles away ... I was too exhausted to move another step , let alone making it all the way to the office . This left me with the last option : to wait for him to come back .....btw , I left my handphone in the room also and no one I knew had his handphone number .... such bad luck ...

So I borrowed my friend's towel , shirt , sandals , shampoo and soap to bathe .... Of course I have to use back the same pants .... And here I am .... writing a post in the computer room .... some people are using the music room for group discussion ... for goodness sake , use the lounge ( which isn't air-conditioned ) ....

I have no idea why my luck can get so bad .... as if SOMEONE is purposely planning this .... haih ....die la ... no revision today ...lol .... and now I owe my friend a big favour ... lol

Last Sunday evening a few of my friends and I decided to cook Tomyam in Hall 5 .... but it didn't work out .... it turned out that the tomyam paste she bought was for chicken and we only had pork .... so we decided to cook normal chinese meal instead ...

There was a lot work to be done , but we managed to prepare everything within an hour .... ( there were 4 pairs of hands ok ... ) . The menu was as follow :
1 . Rice
2. Fried kangkung ( chinese style )
3. Fried carrot ( don't know what style .... first time trying )
4. Sausage and tomato paste ( from fresh tomato )
5. Fried egg with onion and chinese sausgae aka 腊肠
6. Marinated pork ( cooked using the oven )
7. Watermelon
8. Fruit yogurt ( with kiwi , mango and orange )

Wa .... seems a lot right ??? but we finished everything .... gained like 2 pounds .... but believe it or not ... each of us only paid SGD1 !!!! .... Cuz most of the things was bought from Malaysia .... it was a great experience ....

I was actually planning to try on cooking green bean 糖水 but I was too lazy that day ... I may try it this weekend ....

I guess this will be my routine every Sunday considering there is no canteen in my hall .... Cooking in is the only way to prevent me from dying from starvation ...

Don't be terrified by the title .... this was what happened ...

Just now while I was playing computer games , I heard a knock at the door ( my roommate was out ) . There was a guy standing in front of me ...

" Do you have a minute ?"
" What is this about ? "
" Well , our hall 7 jam band is currently raising fund to buy new musical instruments . We had to borrow from other halls in the past . Would you like to make a contribution ? A dollar or 2 will help ... "

......Pause .....

It was really awkward ... normally I would just say " NOT INTERESTED " and slam the door .... well , not slamming the door... so rude .... furthermore it was for jam band ... like Christian jam band ..... Every common sense in the world would have done this .... but I didn't know why .... I just went and took out 2dollars and gave it to him ....

OMG .... I feel so stupid now .... All the tasteless meals and bread was all for nothing .... I think I should go for an exorcism ... haha .... even though I don't believe in it .... Bad luck I guess ...

Never eat Chapati in Singapore

Yeserday morning Wei Han and I arrived at Tanjung Pagar KTM station in Singapore and decided to have our breakfast there at an Indian hawker centre ...

Roti Prata ( aka Roti Canai ) was sold there . Roti Kosong was sold at SGD1.00 = RM2.45 ... SO EXPENSIVE !!! Then I saw Chapati at the next stall , only SGD0.50 = RM1.225 .... Still expensice but that was the cheapest food I could get . So I ordered it .

When the waitress came . She asked for SGD3.50 !!! What ?!
" 2 chapatis is SGD1 , and the mutton gravy is SGD2.50 .... "

Omg ... since when gravy is charged seperately ??? Even Wei Han who bought a Roti Telur and tea was cheaper than mine .... not to mention that there was hardly a visible piece of mutton ... all chopped to such small pieces ... I can't take spicy food some more ....

Thinking back how I used to eat so well in Malaysia ... RM40 for sushi ONLY .... dined in at Italiannist ..... SEAFOOD ............ now even Roti Canai I have to calculate first .... I hope W** H** reads this ... next time can belanja me dinner .... lol

Anyway , I am having a week of semester break and it's ending tomorrow .... I think Malaysia is the opposite of Singapore .... A place to gain weight , a place to get tan .... a place of super NICE FOOD !!! .... gosh , believe it or not I actually had a list of must-eats before I came back to Malaysia and I managed to complete the list yesterday at Italiannist ...

Ok ... good things have to come to an end . Going back to NTU tonight .... On the bright side , I get to lose weight again ....

Wa ... I haven't updated my blog for a few days already .... I was very tired ..... so am I now .... well , the things that happened these few days were :

- Wei Han and I are planning to come back to Malaysia next weekend ( most probably Friday night ) ... YES !!! Lots of cheap McDs...

- I didn't fail Chemistry after all .. G** knows what is wrong with my luck .... in fact I got 70marks .... but it was mostly pity marks .... my 3D structures draw until so ugly the professor still gave me pity marks .... most of the guessing questions 'gam ngam hou' tembak correct .... what the .... anyway ... just to compare .... someone actually got 97marks .... he is from Malaysia also .... yeah .... that's the way ... lol .

- I am making progress in my tutorials . I didn't embaress myself as much with my notorious questions ... got to know a few more friends ( mostly from Malaysia .... give me some time la ) ....

- After that long .... full-of-bread weekend , I decided to eat better ... food takes my stress off a bit .. so I tried the soya bean ice-cream yesterday ... kononnya can make me stay awake throughout the lecture but it worked oppositely .... I felt sleepier ...

- Today I learned about toxicology in Forensic Science .... The most common and lethal drug that mankind use is ALCOHOL !!!! .... See ... alcohol poisoning has the highest fatality rate amongst all poisons .... now I got an excuse ( supported statistically ) not to drink !!! Another reason to love forensic science ....
- My roommate and I are getting along better .... he started to play tennis .... so he gets more tired everyday and do less other "stuff" ..... I think we are going to get along well .... but both of us are really dirty.. so far we have never mopped the room at all .... ewww ..... what to do ? I am lazy what ....

I'll be in Malysia for a week . Feel free to ask me out .... I mean it in the most innocent way .

3 days ago I went for the ASEAN scholarship interview . Guess what ? Today morning they replied saying that I GOT IT !!!! omg ....... I am damn hyper ..........

No tuition fee . Daily expenses are being taken care of .....

Technically , I don't have to ask for a single penny from my parents ....

BUT

Reading through the comditions , I have to maintain a CGPA of at least 3.5/5.0 .... Judging from the past Chemistry test , I have got a lot of work to do .....

Anyway , today is totally a McDonald's day ..... wait . I can't . No money . Today is going to be a bread day .....

Hopefully this scholarship will let my parents retire earlier ..... haha .

First of all , the title sounds wrong , but it best decribes how I am feeling now .

I went for the fisrt Earthlink ( an environmental club ) meeting yesterday night ..... I was too lazy to walk , so I took the bus .... I ended up being late for the meeting .... sad ... and the time I estimated for dinner was gone as well ..... After the meeting , I was dying from starvation .

Since W** H**'s erhem erhem has come , obviously he is going to spend some "quality" time with erhem erhem la .... I didn't want to eat alone , so I looked around and saw my SAVIOUR !!!! I was so tempted ..... I tried to control myself for so long .............................................................. but my self control was weak , so withount thinking twice . I followed my desire for the first time .....

I approached her ..... and asked her ......

" 1 set of Double Cheeseburger plain , take-away , my preferred drink is Sprite "
" 4 dollars 80 cents sir . "

I quickly gave the money to her before I regret and walked back to my room ..... gosh ! The smell of french fries was so tempting .... but my hands weren't washed yet ( H1N1's side effect ) so I had to hold back .....

The taste of Sprite was too much for me to handle . I have not tasted soft drinks the moment I set foot into Singapore ..... I finished it within a few steps ...... I walked so fast that the people around were like ' Rushing for a flight meh .... ' .

I barked into my room ( after washing my hands ) . The first taste of french fries ..... and cheeseburger ...... For your information , I am addicted to McDonalds .... back in Malaysia at least once in a week I must have it . But my budget in Singapore doesn't permit for McDonalds .... Gosh . I was so hyper !!!

Slowly , the guilt sets in .... die lo ... must save tomorrow . So today I am having 1 meal only .... I purposely woke up a little late ( afternoon ) and drank a lot of water until I make it to the canteen in the evening .... there is a price to pay for compulsive desire ......

I can't wait to go home . I can eat McDonalds everyday .....lol .

I love Forensic Science ...

Today is my second lesson in Forensic Science .... I admit 3 hours lecture is actually quite tough to go through but it was really really interesting !!!

We learned about DNA today ... so if anyone here has any doubt as to whether they are adopted or you think your siblings and you have nothing in common at all .... feel free to find me ... Ok la , I admit I can't do the test .... but I think I know how to read the basis Short Tandem Repeats Capillary Gel Electrophoresis graph .... can tell whether you are biologically compatible or not .... haha .... wah .. berlagak pula ..... it was actually a common sense thing la ....

Then we did some case studies as well .... seems really like CSI ... they gave us some clues .... then the results of the relative tests .... then analyse ..... but no suspect to interview .... haiya .. memang potong steam .....this is the only subject that I am looking forward to for the exam because we can get some real case studies then .... Woohoo !!!

Next week is toxicology .... the name itself is so CSI-ish aready ...... that's it la .... I think I may need a switch in career already ....

PAWS ...

Today is my feeding day .... alright ... sounds very wrong . Let me explain . The first club I joined in NTU was PAWS ... it's a voluntary club to help the cats as there are many cats in the campus ... I am in charge of feeding the cats in Hall 7 ( my hall ) on Sunday .... so far I have only seen about 5 cats ....sad . My partner feeder said there were more than 10 usually ... hmm .... I wonder why they didn't show up for food ...

Anyway , it was really an amazing experience to be close to cats again .... considering I have left one behind in Malaysia for more than a week already ..... this small gesture also took some of my pressure away ...

Next week will be hactic .... Another Maths exam ( thankfully the first exam I did ok ) ..... and Atomic Chemistry coming up ( unfortunately my Organic Chemistry was horrible ..... ) ..... ' Cats are human's best friends ' .....lol

Weird Things only happen in Singapore

Another very weird thing happened today .

I was walking back to my room after my class . I saw a car coming while I was trying to cross the road .... I stepped back and allow the car to pass first .... common sense what ..... later kena langgar or horned then very embaressing .... The weird thing was , the driver stopped the car right before the zebra crossing ..... really , not slow down but he braked the car .... some more it was on a slope ... I was so shocked I didn't react for a second ... then he signaled me to cross the road first .... Wa .... this kind of mentality where to find ?

If in some country M****** , the only thing lying on that zebra crossing will be my dead body .... haih ... next election must VOTE !!!! Choose your government k ... ( this applies to those studying overseas , especially UK people ... must purposely come back and vote ..... )

Forensic Science ...

Today is my first lesson in Forensic Science , and the fourth class for everyone else in the same class ..... I was offered a place in this subject last minute as they said it is very popular ...but special offer for chemistry student .... another reason why I think I may not have made the wrong choice coming here ....

Today we have a guest speaker , Mr T*** . He is a forensic pathologist in Forensic Department in Singapore . Well .... he brought a presentation and lets just say the presentation uses REAL CASE photos ..... omg .... some pictures were really unpleasent ..... but that's the truth about forensic ... and apparently CSI is way tooo glamorous .... he said there is no way 1 CSI member can do all the jobs and wear nice makeup while doing autopsy .... well ..... I still like CSI no matter what .... my advice is don't drive recklessly ... it's a terrible way to die .... the 3 hours lecture wasn't boring at all ....

After that we learned about drugs . How to differentiate between morphine , ketamin , heroin , amphetamine , barbiturate , cocaine ... bla bla bla ..... boring ... see the formula only 'hak ngan fan' .....

Today I only have 4 hours of lecture .... how tiring can it get ?

Yes , it can .

Between the lectures I managed to sneak back and get an hour of sleep before the next lecture . I went for the volleyball try out at 7pm ..... 'gam ngam ho' that time I promised the Malaysian group people for dinner ( including wei han ) ... I thought the try out was going to last about one hour ... TOPS .... but from 7 it went on and went on .... we did spiking training and positioning and then played 3 sets berturut-turut ..... wa .... until 10pm only finished ..... the amount sweat can make Singapore sink already ..... but I couldn't enjoy it more !!!! It was like all the unhappy things just went away ....for a moment la ...

Tomorrow got maths test ..... somemore will contribute to the overall scores and grade ..... thank goodness most of them are from C3 .... wait , useless , I forgot everything already .... tonight I'll try to refresh a little , hopefully I won't fail .....

Today while I was waiting for my laundry I went to play the piano in the music room . Then there came a guy entering the music room and took a book out . I quickly gave the piano ( keyboard ) to him ..... curtosy is my policy .... never mind , too much details already . Anyway , what happened was he heard me play the piano and wanted me to teach him piano .....

Wohoo !!!! Means I got income even in university ..... but compared to the last time I taught piano , the rate is quite low even if i convert to RM .... but who cares .... money is money ..... lol

San Xi Lin Men

After the Great Depression , suddenly I got 3 good news come 2gether ( San Xi Lin Men ) .... Yeah ....

1 ) I went to MSA ( Malaysian Something ....not sure what it is Association ) .... for Merdeka celebration . It was a blast , here , free from the government , we were allowed to talk FREELY ..... the committee presented a sketch on Malaysia ..... some of the topics included the mysterious suicide of Tan Beng Beng* , SOME building that happens to NOT have a CCTV .... omg , it was hilarious .... seeing all Malaysians again is so heart warming ....

2 ) I bought a LAPTOP !!! ... it cost me SGD999 ( the cost I tanggung myself .... I am owing my parents money ... ) ... but this means I can go online until super duper late ....previously I could only do this once in a month in my grandma's house .....

3 ) W** H** is here !!!!!!! Although our halls are miles apart .... but I still managed to meet him today . We went shopping and he got a singapore number . The number you will have to get from him la ....

Wa .... what a momentous day ...

First Day of Class

I couldn't sleep very well yesterday .... woke up like about 7am .... thank goodness it rained heavily yesterday .... or else the heat would have killed me before the lessons do .

Today is a super depressing day .... I have never been so emo throughout my life .

I tried to act smart in the morning and ended up getting lost in the campus !!!! .... got map also can get lost ... Geography A for what ??!!! .... but I still managed to find my way back for first class CBC111 (aka - fundamental chemistry) .... I read the notes yesterday and seemed like I have learnt most of them in A Levels .... I thought I was so smart when the lecturer was teaching until 5 minutes later when he asked ' Who can tell me why nitrogen exists as N2 but phosphorus exists as P4 sedangkan they all are in the same group ?' ....

I was speechless .... I never thought of that ... More than 100 nerdy brains ( except mine ) in the class and no one could answer ..... reminds me of the first day in Haslina's class .... he explained and suddenly I have so much respect for me already .... haha . The class was ok ....

Lunch was depressing . I haven't known anyone from my class and therefore ended up eating alone , but I tried to cheer myself up by treating myself a good meal - chicken chop + butter rice for only $3.50 .... about RM8.75 like that .... quite worth it right ?

After lunch was CBC113 (aka - organic chemistry ) ... the sound of it is already dreadful .... today I learned about isomerism and cycloalkane compounds .... I have no idea at all !!! Seriously , I have never felt stupider ... some more when I looked around everyone was like nodding their heads and writing notes sedangkan I just sat there like a moron .... sad ....

Next was PAP181 (aka - fundamental physics ) ..... it was a relief . They are teaching kinematics ( slightly harder than M1 , those who took FM sure can sleep .... ) ... one small good news . The board allows me to be exempted from this subject ( and CBC111 - Fundamental Chemistry ) because of my A Level .... I can still get the Academic Units (AU) for these subjects and no exam for me .... that leaves me with only 3 subjects ..... so I went to the office and register an elective - Forensic Science .... don't know whether can get or not . I also decided to not drop CBC111 because I have so much respect for the lecturer ... lol .

When I came back , my roommate , Jonas ( pronounced as Yonnas ) wasn't around . He didn't have any class today , probably had gone out . Bored .... I saw a bottle of vodka on his table and was like .....'isn't this banned within the hostel?' ... I was so depressed I felt like drinking the whole bottle but considering I have no money to pay him back I dropped the idea ....

My dinner was Instant Mee ....$0.40 ... I am on a super-saving mood .... no la ... actually quite lazy to walk to the canteen already . Then I did my laundry , I am posting this while waiting the washing machine to do its work ....

I'll probably be in front of the computer till 12am again . Need to catch up . Thank goodness weekend is coming . I need a miracle to catch up ..... Without the computer and keyboard ..... real musical keyboard which sounds nothing like piano , I don't how I am going to survive .... W** H** , you faster enrol la .... I sien la what already ....lol .

First Day in NTU ....

I arrived at Singapore at 7.00am today . We took a cab to NTU and he charged us 35% extra !!!!! ..... because it was the peak hour ..... times 2.5 ...... omg , broke la !!!

Today was a super rushy day .... thank goodness my mum knew one of the seniors' mum . She was our tour guide for 6 hours ..... We settled a lot of administration problems and Singaporeans' efficiency is too 'geng' already ..... loan was approved in 10 minutes . Bank account was done in 5 minutes . ATM card was issued in 0 second .... medical examination took only half an hour ( excluding X-ray ) ..... I got my class timetable plus all the previous lecture notes already .... now I can't say 'Malaysia Boleh' anymore ...

Anyway , something very interesting happened today .... When I reached my room and unlocked it , I saw the fan was swithced on and obviously my roommate was already there . Then I saw this 'ang mo' coming out from the nearby washroom with nothing but a piece of towel .... He looked at me with the wierdest stare .... " Is this your room ?"
"Ya," he said .
"Well , I guess I am your roommate" ....
My mum was so shocked she was asking me whether I wanted to change room or not ..... as if 'ang mo's can swallow people .... Anyway , after knowing him a bit , he turned out to be a very nice guy from Finland .... I am still trying to cope with his Finland accent ....

There you go .. my first ... really really tiring day ..... Tomorrow got class somemore .... 4 hours lecture on pure chemistry .... sob ....

NTU ... I am coming

Everything happened so suddenly ....

I still remember on Tuesday after my afternoon nap I came online and found out I got an offer from NTU . My second choice indeed ... Chemistry and Biological Chemistry , but who am I to grumble ??? Since there is not much difference from Biotechnology ( my first choice ) , I accepted the offer .

Today , I just did my passport .... WITHIN 1 hour ONLY !!! Hurray , finally , Malaysia Boleh is not just plain talk ... I couldn't believe its efficiency . Then when I called the NTU office , they said I had to be there latest by tomorrow ..... That's it la ... Graduation Night is tomorrow ... I end up giving up the award and the last chance to see my college friends ..... I have to leave tonight and reach there tomorrow morning ...

Sad .... few days ago , I never saw this coming and suddenly I'll be away from Malaysia . No Malaysian food seems to fill my stomach at all .... I just kept eating and eating ..... I couldn't sleep last night ..... so much to think about ... How I burn my time ? Sudoku .... Did I just sound like a nerd again ( which I am not ) ????

Goodbye ..... next time anyonw comes to Singapore I'll buy you a Roti Canai .... haha ..... Hopefully some of my friends can enter NTU as well ( next year also can .... )

Just when I think the most 'gan jiong' moment was results day , it turned out that it wasn't ....

Yesterday when I was about to take my afternoon nap , suddenly B***** Y*** called . He told me that NTU had replied .... That's it la . There was no Internet in the house . How to check ? I couldn't wait till the next day ... Did I forget to mention I was at my grandmother's house ? I called every single soul ( wait ... i don't believe in souls ... ) who applied to NTU . W** H** graciously turned down my call , he was probably at Yee Eng's house back then .... Then B***** called me again and told me few of my other friends were rejected as well .... gone la .

I asked B to check my status for me ..... there was nothing there except your application is still being processed ... What ??!!! I must check my email . I went through a lot of trouble to get myself online . Yahoo said " No mail " ..... What ??!!! .... Did they even receive my application ???

I called Wh again and thank goodness there was actually someone who hasn't received any emails .... whew .... On the next day , I called the office . They said my application was still being considered ....

The next few days I'll live in fear . Should they reject me ont this , then I'll have to wait for next year ...sob ....

A Level Results

Finally , results day has arrived !!! It came as a little surprise though . I was expecting to be on the 20th ( tomorrow ) it came out a day early .... I was in Sunway Lagoon with my college friends to celebrate before all of us get emo with our results ... at about 3pm , Ms Lai ( MCKL's office clerk ) called me and told me the results were out already .... Gone . No more mood for Sunway already ..... So this is what I got ..... adding to the previous scores from units 1-4 ...

I have no idea what I am doing nowadays .... No jobs , no money , no books .... What is life ??!!! Haha .... I am too shy to ask for jobs anyway . They rejected me right away when I said there is a possibility of me being enrolled into uni before September ... sweat ... so realistic .....

Here I am , helping out in the office . Not so much helping out considering the staffs are doing everything . I just issue some invoices when my parents are not around ( which is like 2 minutes a day when they go to the washroom ) ...... I have to buy lunch for them , do laundry for the family which I HATE so much !!! G** bless computer ...... I can chat and go online and everything during free time ( = 90% of the time ... )

See how I am suffering now ??? That's why I want results day to come soon ... I want to move on ....... I still remembered how I started to count down from day22 .... and in a blink of an eye , it has come down to 2 DAYS !!!! YEAH !!!!

PS : For those who don't look forward to results day , sorry la ..... In an attempt to burn my free time faster , I posted a poll ( again .... ) to see your predictions ..... We'll see how psychic you are .....

Piano exam

This post is four days overdue because the office computer is down ..... I am now blogging from the computer in the Maxims Suite in Genting Hotel ( Thanks to H** B** ) ....

Anyway , I would like to talk about how the piano exam went ....

My exam started from 2pm to 3pm .... I reached Istana Hotel at 12.30pm !!!! Too early ... what to do ? It was raining that day ??? It hasn't rained for a week in Kuala Lumpur and suddenly there was this rain in the middle of a hot afternoon ???!!! Hmm ... I wonder it meant .... lol .

I registered and waited for ONE AND A HALF HOUR .... then something caught up to me .... I was half way through waiting when suddenly I ' Hachoo !!! ' .... Omg .... Right before a piano performance came such a thing ... It would look terrible if this happened in the middle of the exam .... I kept an extra piece of tissue from the washroom just in case ...

At 2pm sharp ( after I submitted my Programme Note to the receptionist ) , I was called in .... Standing in front of me were these two huge 'Ang Mo's .... Both looked elderly and a little scary ... We introduced ourselves . I chose to do Recital first ...

They asked me to try out the piano . The moment I saw 'Yamaha' printed on the GRAND PIANO ... I was like 'Shoot !!!' .... I hate Yamaha ... something about the pitch of this piano just irritates me every time . I tried out and yes , the pitch was very sharp and loud ....typical Yamaha .... There went my Recital ... I think it was less than 30 minutes but they didn't seem to be bothered by it . The missed notes were plentiful ... It was more than the time I practised .... So to pass my Recital is merely possible .... I would be very surprised if it did ....]

I chose Quick Study aka Sight Reading for my second section . It was a two-paged score ( normal ) and I was given 5 minutes to play with it without being judged . The key was D major ... Not bad .... Time signature was 6/8 .... simple rhythm .... Romantic composer ..... I just need to pay more attention to the phrasing and dynamics .... So I started practising then suddenly I saw a 'duplet' sign mixed with three quavers .... there were rests all over as well .... I knew it wasn't going to be so easy !!!! So I spent most of my time working out my duplet rhythm and failed miserably .... I ended up just playing them slower than quaver rhythm ..... Whether I can pass this , I have absolutely no idea ...

Last was Viva Voce aka 'Interview' session . Here were the questions they asked ...

1. Bach - What is Tierce de Picardie ?
My Answer : the third note of a minor key is raised to sound like a major chord .... ( I didn't answer in such fluent English though .... )

2. Beethoven - Tell me a little background of this piece . When was it composed ?
My Answer : first period of his life when he first arrived to Vienna and before he went deaf .... it was composed in 1798 .... Thanks to wikipedia in the morning .. it saved my day .

3. Beethoven - What type of piano did he use ? Was it like the one you just played ?
My Answer - Piano type was pianoforte .... and I guess this piano right here is also pianoforte .... ( I beat around the bush a lot on this ) ..... Thanks to Celeste's express course on Beethoven a day before ....

4. Chopin - Tell me a little about Chopin . Where did he come from ?
My Answer - He was a Polish and was very patriotic towards his country ... this was the only thing I knew about Chopin . It was part of my Programme Note ..... They seemed ok with my answer ...

5. Faure - Do you think Faure as an Impressionist ?
My Answer - No . He was half Late Romanticist and half Impressionist . His work consisted of both styles ... bla bla bla ... boring ....

6. General - What else would you like to tell us or was that something you have prepared but we didn't ask ?
My Answer : 'Crap! ... What sort of question is this ?' ... I had to say something . So I chose from the piece I am most familiar with - Bach . I told them I wasn't asked about the structure of fugue ( Which they asked Celeste ... ) ...
Examiner : So , would you like to tell us about the structure of this fugue ?
My Answer : 'Crap ! .... I didn't study much on fugue ...' So I tried to divert it to something else and said " I would rather compliment his work" ... So I said everything to suck up to him ..... Sad ....

In general , I am 99.99% sure I am going to fail .... it has to be one component or more .... Good news : I won't know it until 8 weeks later and no more piano for me !!!! After 9 years of piano , it felt like I finally graduated ... haha ....

Nervous

Piano exam countdown : 3 days

Honestly , I didn't feel a bit close to this nervous taking A Level exam ( or any other exams for that matter ) .... The reasonS being :

1. I'm so unprepared . My pieces are all over the place . touching is terrible .... slip notes all the time ... my piano teacher said 'no more slip notes for a diploma student !!! ' ....

2. The exam requirement is 35minutes +- 10% .... I timed myself ... it was less than 30minutes .... The moment they find out I didn't perform long enough . Then it's a sure fail ...

3. I didn't touch any theory since Grade 8 . So I'll probably fail Viva voce aka Oral exam ..... They ask somrthign weird ... and I'll be 'Emmmm.............' ......

4. Quick Study .... great . For a person who failed Sight Reading since Grade 6 . What are my chances of passing this ... hmmm ... lets see .... o ya . It's -1 .

I need to pass all three components to get a pass . All three are looking as though they are going to fail . If for G** knows what reason I pass this exam , then I got to reconsider HIM ......

Never mind , A Level results coming out soon .... that will only mean ONE thing ..... I can start uni soon !!! Thank G** .... one more day at home and you will see on news the next day .....

It has been more than a month since my exam ended ..... I couldn't find a job ..... This is because I need a super flexible job .... my piano teacher insisted I practised that d*** piano at least 3 hours per day !!! (which I failed to do despite being jobless ....)

So I stay at my parents' office every alternate day to help out ( FOC of coure .... ) and the other day I spend at home doing STUFF ( one small part was piano ..... the rest are 19 SXXXX ......lol ..... ) .... kidding alright ?

I just don't want to kena 'Dead Blog Alert' so I have to post my boring , dull life anyway .....

Port Dickson Trip

On the 27th and 28th June , I went to Port Dickson with 15 of my WMS friends . Let the pictures tell the story .

We met at the Sentul LRT station . 12 of us were cramped into ONE van but it was very fun .... We caught up a lot in the van ....

Thanks to the considerate van driver , Mr. Wan , we got to watch ' Confession of a Shopaholic ' ... love it 2/10 stars .... ( Transformers only got 2.5/10 alright ... ) .

We met the Bukit Jalil van ( which only have 4 people ) at USJ Caltex station . The van became so comfortable after that .

Finally , after about 1 hour plus in the van , we arrived at our bungalow ..... Look nice ? Wait until I show you the inside .....

Luggage taken out from the van .... still very enthusiastic about our new home .....

Entering the house .... still very positive .....

The sight of the interior of the house was too horrifying for all of us that none of us has taken any pictures ..... It was not so bad .... Just dusty .... quite dusty ... very dusty .... omg ... the feet instantly turned into charcoals ....

We needed to recover from the shock . So we went to a nearby restaurant to have lunch ... got seafood and lots of other dishes .... the price - RM 0 for me ..... thanks to my ex-Bio student , T*** C*** Y*** ....

Too hungry ? Too depressed ? Or was Jia hui on the same table ?

Cleaning starts .... Mop the floor first ....

Is my eyesight getting poorer ? Did I just see my ex-华语 teacher changed her job into a 清洁阿婶 ???

After we cleaned the house , we started our vacation ..... we came 100 miles to Port Dickson for ........ MAHJONG !!!! Haha ..... the 3.5 kg mahjong was worth bringing after all ....

When the weather was less sunny , we went to the compund in front of our house for some physical activities .... We brought volleyball and net ..... but some of us were so innovative we ended up playing more rugby than volleyball .....

Later in the evening we went to the beach .... Sunset ??? Too early I guess ....

The walk and Sun was nothing compared to COCONUTS !!!

Downside was ...... the mess ....

Finally , our vans arrived and we all went home safe and sound .....

After the very tiring Port Dickson trip , I came home and had a good night sleep , not so good because I was feeling the effect of fried food and lack of sleep . On the next day , I was a little ill . Running nose , sore throat and even a little fever I got . This was quite normal considering I always fall sick after an exhausting trip .

I went to my parents' office as usual . I checked fxc and saw Wei Han's post ...... S***** C*** was confirmed H1N1 positive' .... I went crazy because some of us who went to PD happened to be in the HELP prom night with her . Wei Han asked us to quarantine ourselves just to be on the safe side .

So I ended staying at home with NOTHING for TWO DAYS !!!! I missed my college Genting trip . On top of that , I almost jumped off thirteen floor ( Don't worry , I am exaggerating , not suicidal ) .... There was nothing on the TV . My last choice was piano . I didn't know how long I played but my teacher will definitely be surprised as I actually memorised one piece .... I even found time to do some research on my Program Note .....

Worst of all , I just found out yesterday the HELPers I had contact with in PD were H1N1 NEGATIVE !!!! My quarantine was in vain .... sob ..... Never mind , at least I pleased my piano teacher ....

Exam Over already .... haih ...

Exam has ended for almost a week already ... I am starting to feel bored ... At least for now I have PD trip and my college trip to look forward to .... after that I think I'll suffer Boredom Syndrome .....

I am still trying to find a job ... apparently once people heard that you are not going to work for a long time they don't prefer to hire you ...... Well , I guess I'll have to lie a bit during job interviews ..... not that I lie a lot .....

Anyway , yersterday I watched Transformer 2 with my college friends ..... Before I comment on the movie , I'll like to talk about what happened yesterday . The movie started at 5.30pm ..... but unfortunately one of our friends in charged accidentally left them at home ..... yup ..... by the time the tickets arrived it was 6.10pm already ....haih ....

We thought that was it . Transformer 2 day was over , but when we negotiated with the management they refused to refund , which was expected considering those were the rules . However , they managed to find seats in the 6.45pm showing .... so we took it . And we ended up paying RM24/= .....

Some of us paid RM24 but some only paid RM12 ..... In my opinion , I think it wasn't very nice to let the person who bought the ticket to bare the cost .... It was a favour and it was an accident , so why not just save in other days .... I can't imagine if I were to pay this much extra .... anyway , what is done is done .... Moral of the story : Never leave your house without your tickets .... haha ....

Anyway , there was also a 30+++ guy sitting near me .... He was so annoying .... Back in the cinema he was shouting " Uh .... Yeah .... Go Go Go !!! " I was like " sweat ..... " Not once but throughout the 2.5hours he was doing that .... This really reminded me about Twilight where the girls were screaming while watching the movie ..... Moral of the story : Please tone down the level of excitement even if you are the biggest fan of the movie ....

Back to the review , the movie lasted 2.5 hours !!! So worth it .... There were so many new transformer models .... the animation was stunning ..... Not forgetting Megan Fox .....whoo ..... it was HOT !!! I mean the motorbike she was riding .... hehe ..... Just for comparison purpose , there was this robot human girl .... goodness , it was a bit like Terminator , just a better version of it ..... but still Megan is the champion .... Overall , everyone MUST watch Transformer 2 ..... best movie so far in 2009 ....

As usual , I am sitting in the library , in front of the computer ..... Doing nothing .... Everyone is so nerdy ... technically no one was online ???!!!

Anyway , I received my pin number today .
Good thing : We can check our results online .
Better thing : We don't have to compare our results with some overly-smart people ....
Bad thing : We won't meet up on the results day . Tomorrow is really the LAST DAY of college ...

Yesterday's Physics 6 was absolutely depressing . I REALLY REALLY forgot some of the earlier units .... but I just crapped all the way through .... hopefully can get a 40% then I am super happy already ....

Today's Biology 6 .... I predict is gonna be better considering Biology 5 almost killed me ..... we shall see ....

I am in the college library now , waiting for deadly Physics 6 to come ..... something weird happened when I checked my email ...

Mr C*** , my Physics lecturer sent me an email . The content , to me , was a little disturbing .
I wished I haven't deleted the email straight away so that I can show it to everyone .... Of all the people , him ??!!!

Let me not hold this any further .... The email was about a barber who doesn't believe in God ... The story is something like this ...

This is one of the best explanations of why God allows pain and suffering that I have seen..
A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed.
As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation.
They talked about so many things and various subjects..
When they eventually touched on the subject of God,
the barber said: 'I don't believe that God exists.'
'Why do you say that?' asked the customer.
'Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children?
If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things.'
The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.
Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt.
The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber:
'You know what? Barbers do not exist.'
'How can you say that?' asked the surprised barber.
'I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!'
'No!' the customer exclaimed.
'Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside.'!
'Ah, but barbers DO exist! That's what happens when people do not come to me.' 'Exactly!' affirmed the customer. 'That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! That's what happens when people do not go to Him and don't look to Him for help. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world.'

I am not offended at all . I just think it's quite funny coming from a lecturer .... hmm ...I forgot to mention he added a sentence for me - " Read this article and consider " ..... Hmm .....

Countdown to Freedom : 4 Days ...

This week was hell . I finished all my unit 5 exams .... I have to give the ' Toughest Paper Award ' to Biology 5 !!! It really gave my brain a hard time ... Nothing like past years .... it took me at least 3 minutes to understand the questions .... On top of that they asked quite a few questions on unit 3 which I didn't study .... Great ...

Surprisingly , C3 Maths paper was not as difficult as Ms.Lim predicted .... so should be able to pass ....

Left Unit 6 ..... let's see what will happen ....

Exam is starting on Wednesday ( 2 days later ) and I am so bored .... I mean it's a little too late to study now ( for me ) because there is just TOO MUCH to study already ... not to mention that the questions are so unpredictable nowadays . So I have finally come to a conclusion .... let G** decide ....

As you all know , I am still having my 3-weeks holiday . To be honest , it is getting really boring ... no offence but I can't study for hours in a day . Just when I am trapped in my parents' shop , a miracle happened .

My mum asked me to research on this WiMAX ... it's like a super huge WiFi which we can subscribe and go online as usual . Its only difference from Streamyx is that it is wireless ( Streamyx is offering this as well ) .... and it's cheaper for office users .

Streamyx's promotions are only for home users , so it is not worthy in my case . Whats happened in the end ? We subscribed WiMAX !!!! RM49/= per month with speed at least 400kbps .... as long as I bring the router , I can use it on any laptop or desk computer . Isn't this amazing ? It means I can go online 24-7 with ONE flat rate ....

I know to most of you it sounds like nothing but please understand my situation here . I have been using landline connection with a maximum download speed of 50kbps ..... Can you imagine that ? No youtube , no song downloads , only texts .... Even the computer in my grandparents' house is faster than this .....

Anyway , don't be surprised if you see me online for the whole day .... I am just too grateful and I want to share this with everyone ....

P.S : One note , the upload speed is super slow ... about 10% of the download speed only ... so if you upload a lot of things , don't use WiMAX ....
